2 held on graft charges

Patna: Two government officials, including a senior clerk of Mohanpur block in Gaya, were arrested by vigilance sleuths on graft charges from Gaya and East Champaran districts on Tuesday. ources said Gaurishankar Singh Kushwaha was arrested while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Jagdev Prajapati in Gaya. In the other incident, Virendra Kishore Jha, panchayat sachiv of Khartari panchayat was caught while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 9000 from one Umesh Ram.

Imprisonment

Patna: Special vigilance judge R.N. Singh on Tuesday awarded one-year rigorous imprisonment to four former officials of Bihar State Electricity Board in a case related to plundering of public funds between 1986 and 1998.

Appointment

Patna: The government on Tuesday appointed Hukum Singh Meena as secretary of revenue and land reforms department. Meena would continue to hold additional charge of director of land records and land acquisition directorate.

Injured

Chhapra: One Shatrughna Sharma of Salempur was injured in a domestic gas cylinder blast around 2.30pm on Tuesday.
