Fire at sweet shop

Patna: A fire broke out at a sweet shop near Patna Museum around 7pm on Tuesday. The fire spread to an LPG godown and six cylinders exploded. even fire tenders rushed to the spot and it took an hour to douse the flames. One person was injured.

Patna: A delegation of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by secretary Susmita Shekhar, called on senior state government officers on Tuesday to discuss the chamber’s focus to facilitate grassroots development in agriculture, education, health and tourism in the state.

Patna: A group of sugarcane growers on Tuesday attacked the office of a sugar factory in Riga, Sitamarhi over non-payment of arrears.

Patna: Five persons died after consuming spurious liquor in Badka village in Buxar district late on Monday night.

Quake lessons

Patna: Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation would hold an exhibition on March 10 and 11 to sensitise people on earthquake mitigation measures. The exhibition would be part of the All India Police Housing meet to be held for the first time in the state.

Patna: The state government on Tuesday appointed Pranav Kumar, a 2008-batch IAS, as the sub-divisional officer of Purnea Sadar. The government also approved the voluntary retirement of another IAS officer, Ajit Kumar, a joint secretary in the Union ministry of food processing industry, with effect from May 1.

Buddha song

Motihari: A song composed on Lord Buddha by a poet and cultural activist from Champaran, Prasad Ratneshwar, would mark the inauguration of Kesariya Mahotsav 2012 on March 16.

Body found

Patna: The body of eight-year-old Rohit Kumar, who was abducted from Dullamchak village in Bhojpur district on March 1, was found in a well on Tuesday. Rohit was the son of a trader.
