Meet to discuss quota

Patna: A meeting of Patna University’s core committee, set up to decide on the re-introduction of quota to students in this year’s BEd course, was convened on Monday.here have been large-scale protests in 2010, demanding the introduction of quota for sport, art and culture categories. The meeting will continue till Tuesday.

Schools open

Patna: Several high schools remained open on Monday in spite of the prevailing cold wave in the state capital. Classes were conducted for three-and-a-half hours starting from 9am.

Tie-up

Patna: Leading public sector bank Central Bank of India has formalised its tie-up with mutual fund L&T. A bank statement said it aims to reach out to the mutual fund investors through its network of 3,600 branches.

Electoral rolls

Patna: The state election commission, in a statement released on Monday, said a ward-wise electoral rolls would be published from January 5 to January 18. The publication will be done at the panchayat, block and district levels. Those having objections can claim for the amendments to the block development officer or the officer-in-charge or can claim it online.

Letter to CM

Patna: Medha Patkar, a renowned social worker and convener of National Alliance for People’s Movement, has written to Nitish Kumar demanding the release of two leaders involved in the protest against the asbestos plant in Muzaffarpur. Tarkeshwar Giri and Kumud Ram are in jail.

Power cases

Patna: The state government has constituted three special courts that specially deal with cases of power theft. The two special courts have already started functioning on the premises of lower courts in Patna and Gaya.

Registration

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said the process of registration for forms for those engaged in inter-state trade would be completed within the next 15 days. He added forms C and F would be made available within the next three days.
