MLA gets bail

Araria (PTI): JD(U) MLA Sarfaraz Alam on Thursday surrendered before judicial magistrate P.K. Ratan in connection with a case charging him with assaulting a petrol pump owner. lam is the son of former Union minister Mohammad Taslimuddin. He was later released on bail.

Beaten

Patna: A resident of the Buddha Colony area was beaten up on Thursday evening by criminals, who had entered her home to steal. Residents caught one of the men while they were fleeing.

Rate slash

Patna: The base and interest rates of Central Bank of India would be slashed. The new rates will be effective from May 1. The revised base rate would be 10.5 per cent in place of 10.75 per cent, a bank release said.

Bank branch

Patna: Dena Bank opened its main branch in the Kankerbagh area of the city on Thursday.

Two dead

Patna: Two persons were killed when criminals hurled bombs in a house at Pipra village on Wednesday night. The deceased have been identified as Suryanand Yadav and Ratneshwar.
