RJD face in Upper House

Patna: Chairman of the Bihar Legislative Council Tarakant Jha on Friday announced RJD’s Ghulam Gaus and Ramchandra Prasad as the Leader of the Opposition and the chief whip, respectively, in the Upper House. ha made the announcement after the recommendation of RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui.

Bribe blow

Patna: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau filed a chargesheet against the deputy sarpanch of Pachauri panchayat in Nalanda district at the special vigilance court, Patna, in connection with a bribery case on Friday. The accused was caught on January 22 when he was accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a lawyer.

Narco verdict

Patna: Additional district and sessions judge VII, V.K. Jain sentenced Asharfi Chaudhary, a resident of Jethuli village, to 15 years rigorous imprisonment in connection with a case under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Custody

Patna: Special CBI judge, Patna, Bashishth Narayan Singh sent a tax assistant of Sasaram, Ram Narayan Singh, to judicial custody till March 31 in connection with a bribery case on Friday.

Rally

Patna: The Bihar Chamber of Commerce (BCC) will organise the Bihar Gaurav Rally at Patna City on March 24 as part of the Bihar Divas celebrations. Residents of Patna City area have been requested to take part in the rally, which would start at 7am from Malsalami and end at Manoj Kamalia stadium near Mangal Talab area of Patna city. BCC president O.P. Sah convened a meeting on Friday to assess the preparations.

Festival

Patna: Kilkari will organise a children’s play festival on the occasion of Bihar Divas. Several plays will be staged between March 22 and 24 at Kalidas Rangalaya.
