Explosives seized, one held

Patna: Explosives, including detonator wires, were seized and a person, identified as Goulakshmi resident Mantu, arrested in Rohtas on Friday.ohtas superintendent of police Manu Maharaj said a police team intercepted a Scorpio near an under-construction bridge on the Sone river. The police were conducting raid to arrest another man who escaped the cop net.

Verdict

Patna: The high court on Friday reserved its verdict on a bunch of petitions challenging its order to set aside the appointment of 26 principals of different colleges under Magadh University. A division bench of Chief Justice Rekha M. Doshit and Justice Jyoti Saran reserved the judgement after hearing both sides.

Forex

Patna: Mumbai-based organisation NL Forex Limited opened its counter on the premises of Patna airport on Friday. Airport director Arvind Dubey inaugurated the counter, currency exchange facility to passengers.

Seizure

Patna: Acting on a tip-off from their Delhi counterpart, sleuths of air intelligence wing of the Income Tax department seized Rs 18 lakh from one Samiullah Baig. Samiullah arrived in Patna from Delhi on a GoAir flight. The Darbhanga resident claimed he had got the money by selling a flat in Delhi. I-T officials calculated that Rs 10 lakh was a tax liability and seized it.

Vigilance

Patna: Baleshwar Dubey, an officer with the special land acquisition office under Flood Protection Plan, Patna, was caught red-handed on Friday for accepting Rs 3,000 as bribe. Assistant director general (vigilance) P.K. Thakur said 16 public servants had been arrested in 14 trap cases.

Ban

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who also holds the forest and environment department charge, on Friday directed official concerned to take steps for ensuring complete ban on use of polythene bags in the state.

Flight delay

Patna: The Delhi-Patna-Delhi evening flight of Jet Airways was delayed by around three hours on Friday because of a technical snag.
