Mock quake drill

Patna: The volunteers of civil defence conducted a mock drill on earthquake on the concluding day of Bihar Divas 2011 celebrations at Gandhi Maidan on Thursday. he director-general cum commissioner of civil defence, J.K. Khanna, and additional director-general cum additional commissioner of civil defence, R.C. Sinha, were present on the occasion.

Celebration

Patna: Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna celebrated Bihar Divas on Thursday, inaugurated by its director V. Mukunda Das.

Cartography

Patna: The geography department of Patna University organised National Cartographic Day at Sahay Sadan, Bailey Road. The chief guest of the function was M.M.P. Sinha, retired teacher of geography department.

Prayer

Gaya: Around 20 foreigners from different countries offered “pinddaan” ritual for the salvation of the souls of their ancestors at the Vishnupad Temple and Falgu river here.

Workshop

Patna: Shrikrishna Science Centre, Patna, in association with Prem Youth Foundation on Thursday organised an orientation workshop on making and uses of vermicompost for farmers.

Camp

Patna: A blood donation camp was organised at agriculture department stall during Bihar Divas at Gandhi Maidan. A.C. Jain, the deputy director of agriculture (information), said a total of 32 officials of the department and farmers and visitors donated blood at the camp.

Sentence

Patna: CBI special judge, Patna, Dhirendra Kumar Pandey on Thursday sentenced Sriman Narayan Singh, former postal assistant of Hajipur post office to two years’ of rigorous imprisonment in connection with a bribe case. He was caught in 2003.

Guilty held

Patna: Additional district and Sessions judge, Ajit Kumar Sinha, found Vinod Kumar Thapa, an official of Bihar state Legislative Council guilty of killing Akhilesh Kumar Singh, an official of Bihar State Legislative Council on January 4, 2008.
