Idol thieves in cop net

Patna: Six persons were arrested for stealing idols of the 17th century from Bari Math in Karauri Chak on Thursday. he men were intercepted on Thursday night when they were fleeing.

Warrant stay

Patna: Patna High Court on Friday stayed the arrest warrant of 227 mukhiyas of Sitamarhi district till March 28. The village heads have allegedly been involved in financial irregularities in distribution of solar lights worth Rs 18 crore.

Consideration

Patna: The high court asked the principal secretary of the state’s health department to consider within six weeks the plea of doctors of the state health services cadre for raising the retirement age from 62 to 65 years.

In grief

Patna: Aggrieved with the massive destruction by severe earthquake and Tsunami in Japan, chief minister Nitish Kumar cancelled his visit of Sewagram in Maharashtra where he was supposed to receive an award.

Accident

Patna: Five persons died and two others received serious injuries when a bus in which they were travelling collided with a speeding truck on the National Highway near Mangal Bigha village in Nalanda district.

Patna: East Central Railway has carried 79.51 million tonnes of revenue earning freight traffic during April 2010 and February 2011.

Custody

Patna: Vigilance Special Judge, Patna, Ajit Kumar Sinha has sent Nursarai (Nalanda) block agriculture officer Arvind Kumar Ghosh to judicial custody till March 24 in connection with a bribery case.

Araria: Rabegun Nisha (19) was strangulated to death by her husband Gulfar at Sikti village early on Friday. Gufar used to beat her for dowry on regular basis.

Gopalganj: Gopalganj chief judicial magistrate Sanjay Kumat Srivastav on Friday rejected the bail petition of principal of Mahendra Mahila college Madhu Prabha Devi.
