Date to prohibit alcohol

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar announced in the Legislative Council on Thursday that November 26 will be marked as Alcohol Prohibition Day every year. As the NDA II government was sworn in on that date, it was dedicated to a good cause, said Nitish.We will organise a number of events on that day to teach the masses how alcohol adversely affects health,” said Nitish.

Plastic ban

Patna: Bihar State Pollution Control Board on Thursday convened a meeting of polythene carry bag manufacturers to let them know about the new rule that bans the usage of plastic more than 40 microns thick.

Dharna

Purnea: Around 50 people led by Mazdoor Kranti Sangh staged a dharna at Kasba block, 15km from Purnea against alleged corruption of child development project officer Savita Kumari.

Counterfeit

Patna: Criminal Investigation Department has decided to depute an officer in the districts bordering Nepal in the wake of large quantity of seized counterfeit notes over the past few years.

Penalty

Patna: East Central Railway has booked 5.12 lakh passengers over the past 11 months for travelling without tickets, said ECR public relations officer Dilip Kumar.
