Election

Motihari: Senior advocate Anirudh Prasad Singh and Rajiv Kumar Dwivedi have been elected the president and secretary of the district Bar Association respectively. The association went for polls on Tuesday.

Arrest

Gaya: The crime control branch of railway board, Delhi police, arrested Taiyab Aslam Khan, in Gaya on Wednesday, in connection with the stealing of computer parts worth Rs 6 lakh from a luggage van in New Delhi. Guddu is the son of Ibrar Ahmad, a retired sub-inspector of Bihar police.

Extortion

Chhapra: Two persons were arrested for trying to extort Rangdari tax from a local businessman in Chhapra.

Suicide

Patna: An 18-year-old girl, Kali Kumari, committed suicide by hanging herself in her home at Chandpur Bela area under Jakkanpur police station late Tuesday night.

Transfer

Patna: The high court transferred the state’s former HRD secretary K.K. Pathak’s criminal contempt proceedings to another bench.

Affidavit

Patna: The high court asked the state government to file an affidavit to a contempt petition for not complying with the court’s order to get cleared the birthplace of famous historical dancer Amrapali and Budha road near Khemkarana village in Muzaffarpur.

Lecture

Patna: Muzaffar Alam, professor of South Asian Languages and Civilisations at University of Chicago delivered a lecture on “Sufi Sheikhs and Formation of Mughal Politics” at Khuda Bakhsh library.
