City cops to reach Mumbai

Patna: A team of Patna police will be going to Mumbai on Thursday in connection with the stud farm owner Hasan Ali case. olice sources said the team will be moving to Mumbai and more teams will be sent, if necessary. Earlier on Tuesday, a court in Patna issued a production warrant against Hasan Ali in connection with the fake passport case, which was obtained from the state capital. The team is likely to be led by deputy superintendent of police (law and order) Lalit Mohan Sharma.

Bail rejected

Patna: A division bench of Justice Shyam Kishore Sharma and Justice Gopal Prasad of Patna High Court on Wednesday rejected the bail petition of former Lalganj JD (U) legislator Vijay Kumar Shukla alias Munna Shukla in connection with the Brij Bihari murder case.

New timings

Patna: The State Information Commission secretary, B.B. Pandey, said on Wednesday the commission would function for six days a week from May 1 with a view to speed up the disposal of cases.

Book release

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar released a multi-lingual dictionary of the Quran at his secretariat on Wednesday. Nitish emphasised that people should not fight over religions in the country.

Funds

Patna: The rural works department on Wednesday released Rs 300 crore as funds for the financial year 2011-12 for constructing roads in rural areas in all the 38 districts. The maximum funds has been allotted to Gaya district —Rs 17.02 crore — followed by East Champaran and Muzaffarpur at Rs 13.39 crore and Rs 12.37 crore respectively.

Opening

Patna: East Central Railway general manager K.K. Shrivastava on Wednesday inaugurated a new ATM of State Bank of India’s bank near office of Sonepur division railway office.

Run over

Gaya: A six-year old boy, Mohammad Shameer, was killed on the spot after he was knocked down by a speeding autorickshaw near Panchayati Akhada under Kotwali police station on Wednesday. Following the incident, angry residents torched the autorickshaw.
