Muzaffarpur: The Motipur-Sahebganj road along the National Highway 28 was blocked to protest the alleged killing of one Brahmadev Ram (55) near Mohammadpur village under Motipur police station on Saturday night. Ram was campaigning for mukhiya candidate Kiran Bharati. Ram’s body was found in a mango orchard on Sunday morning. Enraged, the villagers blocked the road for three hours. Patna: The police on Sunday raided a gambling den in Mangal Talab area of Patna City. Three people, who were caught indulging in the act, were arrested. The police said that a private residence was used for gambling. Police said there were several other spots where this illegal trade has been going on.Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar has mourned the death of godman Sathya Sai Baba and said that his followers were spread across the globe. He said that the godman was not only a profound philosopher of religion but also a great server of humanity and had made significant contributions to the field of education and health. He added that he has been praying so that the innumerable followers of the godman could bear the irreparable loss.Patna: The CPI has expressed concern over the violence taking place during the panchayat elections in Bihar. The state secretary of the party, Badri Narayan Lal, said there were reports about the downtrodden people not being allowed to vote. He added three people were killed in Vaishali in pre-poll violence. He criticised the role of local police during the elections and demanded deputation of SAP and BMP jawans during the remaining phases of polls. Patna: Speaking at a function organised by Sanskritik Gaurav Sansthan, former Union minister Subramanian Swamy said despite the Centre claiming that the country’s economy has grown, it still contributes barely three to four per cent of the world economy. Swamy, while talking about the idea of Ram Rajya, said it could be attained only if the voice of the poor was heard.
