Ex-MP’s bail plea rejected

Siwan: Chief Judicial Magistrate Amar Jyoti Srivastav on Wednesday rejected the bail petition of incarcerated former MP Muhammad Shahabuddin in connection with Barharia case number 82/2004. ccording to reports, one Suresh Singh was shot dead on August 7, 2004 at Barharia Bazar. His brother Gauri Shankar Singh had lodged an FIR.

Rape

Patna: A middle-aged woman from Bengal was gangraped by an auto-driver and his friends late on Tuesday night. The girl had apparently come to Patna to meet her boyfriend. She had boarded the auto from Patna Junction for Kadamkuan but was taken to Ramkrishna Nagar and raped. An FIR has been lodged.

Patna: Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee leaders and workers on Wednesday welcomed the newly appointed All India Congress Committee Bihar’s secretary in-charge Pravin Rashtrapal at the state party headquarters at Sadaqat Ashram.

Suicide bid

Siwan: Gulabo Devi, a woman from Bharatpura village tried to burn herself and her three children. She was allegedly fed up with the regular fights at home. The four have been admitted to Siwan Sadar Hospital in a critical condition.

Gherao

Patna: Members of All India Students Federation on Wednesday gheraoed Nalanda Open University vice-chancellor Jitendra Singh. AISF state secretariat member Sushil Kumar said students were demanding the change in the dates of first-year postgraduate examinations, which is coinciding with BPSC (PT) examinations on April 17.

Protest

Patna: All India Democratic Students Organisation and All India Students Federation jointly staged a dharna to protest against the increase in the fees of postgraduate examinations of Magadh University, at its branch office in Patna before the officer on special duty.

Bribe

Patna: Arun Kumar Singh, a policeman at Sheikhpura police station, was caught red handed by the vigilance bureau as he was taking Rs 6,500 as bribe from one Rakesh Kumar for submitting a chargesheet in a case lodged with the same police station in 2008.
