Nitish hands over flats

Patna, Aug. 11: Chief minister Nitish Kumar handed over possession of 192 flats built under basic service to urban poor scheme to people belonging to economically backward sections at Ishopur village under Phulwarisharif block in Patna district on Saturday. he flats were constructed at a cost of Rs 462.31 lakh.

Arrest

Patna: Dhanjay Singh, a resident of Deedarganj in Patna City, was arrested on the charge of robbery in the house of Pushpam Jha, a resident of Rajeev nagar Road number 5, under Rajeev Nagar police station in Patna on Saturday.

Shot dead

Patna: One Ajay Tiwary allegedly shot his wife Kiran Tiwary at his Mohania residence in Kaimur district on Saturday after he suspected that she was having an affair with someone else. He also shot himself dead with the same weapon.

Freed

Buxar: Ambrish Kumar, (12), who was kidnapped from Lakshmipur village under Mufassil police station on Saturday morning, was freed by his abductors at Buxar town.

Drowned

Samastpur: Two girls drowned while taking a bath in a pond at Durlak village in Samastipur district on Saturday.

Rebel held

Begusarai: A CPI(Maoist) member Makeshwar Yadav was arrested from Tegha police station area of the district on Saturday.

Protest

Patna: Bihar Jharkhand Rajya Vidyut Parishad Field Kamgar Union’s general secretary Amarendra Mishra on Saturday said there would be a state-wide strike of power workers on August 28 to protest against the privatisation of power board and its decision to appoint distribution franchisee for power supply in Patna and other districts.

New branch

Patna: Bank of Baroda’s general manager Arun Kumar on Saturday inaugurated a new branch of the bank at Exhibition Road.
