Patna: Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh on Sunday urged chief minister Nitish Kumar to initiate development schemes in the Naxalite-affected Rohtas district. amesh advised Nitish to introduce the development schemes on the lines of those undertaken in Jharkhand’s Saranda forest and Saryu valley.

Tobacco meet

Patna: An anti-tobacco workshop was organised for the police personnel of Patna district at AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies on Sunday. Civil surgeon Lakhendra Prasad and senior police officers attended the workshop to discuss ways to implement the anti-tobacco regulations.

Patna: State JD(U) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad on Sunday said the law and order situation in Bihar has not only improved but the state government has also taken steps towards police modernisation. Prasad was reacting to LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan’s recent statement on the state’s deteriorating law and order condition.
