Patna, June 25: A 14-year-old boy was found murdered on the riverside near LCT Ghat under Patliputra police station on Saturday. The victim, identified as Ram Taj, had gone missing on Friday from his residence at Kara Math.ome residents, who noticed the body in the morning, informed the police.

Bypoll boycott

Purnea: Voters at six polling stations in Purnea refrained from exercising their right in the bypoll held on Saturday. The district administration, however, confirmed poll boycott at only four booths. Manwara Khatun, the councillor of ward no 33, said voters did not exercise their franchise to protest against poor basic amenities in their areas.

Programme

Patna: BJP’s deputy chief whip in the Assembly Arun Kumar said the party would organise a Shankhnad programme at SK Memorial Hall on June 27.

Identity

Patna: The police have ascertained the identity of the anonymous caller who had demanded extortion money from a noted plastic surgeon of Patna, Dr Ratan Sharma over the phone, as Manoj Singh. Manoj, a resident of Bahadurpur in Patna, is lodged in Beur Central Jail.

Arrest

Buxar: A youth, identified as Shamim Khan, was nabbed from Dumraon in connection with the murder of former mukhiya (village headman) Naushad Khan.

Patna: Information and public relations department principal secretary Rajesh Bhushan has told the department officers to make optimum use of the media to spread information or warn people about flood in the affected districts.
