Patna: Maoists were forced to beat a retreat owing to police alertness after the rebels had planned to attack Amas toll plaza on Thursday evening. The Naxalites had arrived near the toll plaza on a jeep. arlier, on March 23, 2010, Maoists had attacked the toll plaza and killed a gunman. Meanwhile, an armed squad of the Communist Party of India (Maoists) torched two trucks at village Katthakbigha and an autorickshaw near Neema bridge under Amas police station on Thursday evening.

Cop raid

Patna: A large amount of chemicals were recovered from a house at the Railway Harta Road under Kadamkuan police station on Friday after a raid. The raids happened under superintendent of police (city) Shivdeep Lande who said the people running the shop had no records of where the chemicals were being supplied. Two persons have been taken into custody.

Jail term

Patna: Special vigilance judge Ramesh Chandra Singh on Friday sentenced Sanyukta Kumari, a former correspondence clerk of public health and engineering department in Gaya to one-year rigorous imprisonment in connection with a bribery case.

New policy

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Friday said the government would come out with a new training policy for public servants working in various departments and institutions.

Health focus

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Friday took serious note of childrens’ death from an undiagnosed disease in Muzaffarpur. Health department’s principal secretary Amarjeet Sinha, who visited Muzaffarpur to take stock of the situation, apprised Modi of the present situation.

Patna: Lalan Jha has been appointed as the new secretary of Bihar School Examination Board.

Lynched

Siwan: One Chandra Mohan (30) was beaten to death on Thursday night at Sareya village under Darauli police station while he was keeping a vigil on a mango orchard.
