Court shifts case

Patna: The high court division bench of Justice Mihir Kumar Jha and Justice A.K. Trivedi on Tuesday transferred the Lakshmanpur Bathe massacre case to another bench. At least 58 dalits were killed by erstwhile Ranvir Sena in a Jehanabad village in 1997.he lower court in April 2010 sentenced 16 men to death and awarded life imprisonment to eight and acquitted 17 others for lack of evidence.

Special trains

Patna: East Central Railway has decided to run two Puja special weekly trains to Ranchi. The two special trains — Saharsa-Ranchi Puja special (08623/08624) and Katihar-Ranchi Puja special (08632/08631) — would run between October 1 and November 29.

Missing FIR

Patna: Family members of 22-year-old Armaan have lodged an FIR against some of his friends after he went missing on August 22. Armaan is a resident of Khan Mirza area under Sultanganj police station.

Boy dies

Muzaffarpur: A 12-year-old boy Ranjit Kumar died on Tuesday after being administered a medicine under government-sponsored de-worming scheme. Six other children at Sutihara Middle School, where Ranjit studied, have also fallen ill after consuming the medicine.

Bail cancel

Patna: The high court bench of Justice Hemant Kumar Srivastava on Tuesday cancelled the bail of Ritlal Yadav, an accused in the Satya Narayan Sinha murder case.

Plea disposed

Patna: The high court division bench of Justice Shiva Kirti Singh and Justice Shivaji Pandey on Tuesday disposed of an appeal of Sri Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir saying the petition is premature as the appeal is pending before the district magistrate.

Award urge

Patna: Several Bihar leaders have demanded that the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna, be given to Verghese Kurien, who brought about the milk revolution in India. Kurien died on Sunday, aged 90.
