Assets glare on officer

Patna: Special vigilance judge Om Prakash Sinha on Friday ordered the Patna district magistrate to confiscate the alleged disproportionate assets of former sale-tax assistant commissioner of Sahabad circle (Ara), Anil Kumar and his seven family members within a month.umar has allegedly accumulated disproportionate assets worth Rs 35 lakh in his and his family members’ name between 1980 and May 31, 2007. Kumar was caught in 2007 while allegedly accepting Rs 25,000 as bribe.

Case solved

Patna: Police on Friday said that Manoj Kumar Verma confessed to having killed his wife and son on Thursday at his Railway Colony residence. He told the police that he was under pressure to repay a huge loan.

Thieves in net

Patna: At least 12 persons, suspected to be thieves, were nabbed on Friday from the Kankerbagh area. A total of five laptops, 25 mobile phones, two CPUs, one monitor, three modems, 30 SIM cards, one landline phone set, six wrist watches and one digital camera was recovered from them.

Workshop

Patna: Bihar State Health Society in collaboration with a few NGOs, organised a workshop on Friday to implement tobacco control measures in the state. Enforcement officers and NGO personnel from seven districts took part in the event.

Two killed

Buxar: Two persons, including a minor, died after a roof collapsed in Dhanbakra village on Thursday night. They were identified as Taramuni Devi and her daughter Neha.
