Nitish firm on demand

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday reiterated that the next Union government could not be formed without 40 MPs from Bihar. The party that will form the government at the Centre in 2014 will not be able to ignore the 40 MPs from our state,” he said in Madhubani.

CM inspection

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday inspected the venue in Darbhanga for the convocation of Lalit Narayan Mithila University on October 3. President Pranab Mukherjee is scheduled to attend the convocation.

Theatre fest

Patna: A five-day national traditional theatre festival, christened Lokabhinaya, would be organised at Premchand Rangshala from Monday. The event is being organised by Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, ministry of culture in collaboration with the art, culture and youth affairs department.

Patna: Around 200 schoolchildren took part in an audition on Sunday for a dance competition organised by Magadh Movie House and Vision Vatsalya.

Train robbery

Chhapra: Criminals looted mobile sets and cash after beating up 12 passengers of 15507 Down Hajipur-Thawe Passenger in between Dighwara and Sonepur railway stations under East Central Railway zone on Saturday night.

Three nabbed

Chhapra: Three criminals were arrested from an orchard near Garkha railway crossing on Saturday night. A carbine, a country-made pistol, a dagger, five mobiles and five live cartridges were recovered.

Motihari: JD(U) Rajya Sabha member RCP Singh on Sunday inaugurated the annual convention of the JD(U) business cell.

Fire death

Buxar: A truck owner, Shushil Kumar Yadav, died when the vehicle caught fire late on Saturday night in Ahirauli village. He was asleep in the cabin of his truck.
