Shahi in new role

Patna: The state human resource development department minister P.K. Shahi has been appointed as new chairman of AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies replacing Harikishore Singh, the former Union minister. itish appointed Shahi as the new chairman.

Arrest

Motihari: Hargun Prasad and Ravi Kumar — two clerks at the office of assistant registrar of co-operative societies in Sikrahana circle — were arrested by vigilance sleuths as they were accepting Rs 45,000 as bribe, in their offices, on Thursday.

Sentence

Patna: Special CBI judge B.N. Singh sentenced former booking supervisor of Bakhtiyarpur railway station Bijay Kumar to five years of rigorous imprisonment in a case of misappropriation of government money worth Rs 66.95 lakh.

Appointment

Gaya: Fresh appointment of 27 principals of constituent colleges under Magadh University would begin within 15 days.

Bribe

Patna: Baban Singh, filaria inspector posted in the office of assistant director of filaria, health services, was caught by vigilance sleuths while accepting Rs 20,000 as bribe from Dharmendra Kumar Singh for issuing him a joining letter.

Witness

Patna: Advocate Prabhakar Kumar deposed as prosecution witness in the court of district and sessions judge, Vishweshwar Nath Mishra, in connection with additional public prosecutor of Begusarai, Ram Naresh Sharma murder case. Kumar is son of the deceased.

Health camp

Patna: Patna Central School organised a free health check-up camp for girls on its premises. More than 500 girls participated in the camp.

Letter

Patna: The state human resource development department has sent a letter to the finance department to clear Rs 1,300 crore bill to facilitate the payment of salaries of teaching and non-teaching employees according to the Sixth Pay Commission.

New chairman

Patna: Sitaram Singh, the director of higher education has been appointed as the chairman of Bihar Hindi Granth Academy. Singh has been recently made the director of higher education replacing J.P. Singh.
