Cold shoulder to RTE

Patna: District education officers of various schools have submitted their reports regarding enrolment of children from weaker sections and underprivileged communities in private schools. ccording to Right to Education Act, all schools were directed to enrol 25 per cent children from weaker sections in private schools. The report to human resource development department claim only 350 children from weaker sections were enrolled in Patna.

New faces

Patna: The state government relieved food and consumer protection department principal secretary Tripurari Sharan, who has been made the director-general of Doordarshan. Notifications regarding additional charge given to two IAS officers were also issued on Thursday. General administration department principal secretary has been given the additional charge of information and public relations department as the present incumbent Rajesh Bhushan has gone on a 15-day leave. Managing director of Bihar state finance corporation Shishir Sinha has been given the charge of principal secretary of food and consumer affairs.

Protest

Patna: Student bodies owing allegiance to Nationalist Congress Party on Thursday staged a protest at Patna University head office over anomalies in results of BA Part II examinations.

Bribe snare

Motihari: Nand Kishore Mishra, a clerk-cum-typist posted with municipal board office at Narkatiyaganj in West Champaran was trapped by a vigilance sleuth while taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from one Amit Kumar Barnwal at the board office on Thursday morning.

Lightning

Patna: At least seven people were killed and four were injured after lightning struck Rohtas and Kaimur districts on Thursday. While five people died at Hargawa village under Chainpur police station in Kaimur district, two deaths were reported from Udaypur and Bishrampur under Sanjhauli and Shivsagar police stations in Rohtas respectively.

Pump loot

Darbhanga: Four criminals looted a petrol pump and fired bullets killing three and injuring one at Nehra Bazaar under Manigachi police station on Wednesday evening.
