Nod for easy autos

Patna: The high court on Friday granted permission to operate easy autorickshaws, a GPS-enabled pre-paid service, from the airport till further orders.ustice S.N. Hussain also issued a notice to Patna airport director on a petition filed by Smart Commuting Services Private Limited to operate the auto service from the airport till Airports Authority of India came out with tenders. The case will be heard on July 25.

Vigilance

Patna: Vigilance investigation bureau on Friday filed a chargesheet against former Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation tax collector Shabbir Ahamad in the special vigilance court, Patna, in connection with a bribery case. Shabbir was caught red-handed with Rs 15,000 by the special vigilance team on May 11, 2011.

Campaign

Patna: Bharat Sadhu Samaj and Bharat Sevak Samaj launched a three-month-long campaign for spiritual and social awakening to combat corruption in politics and administration.

Inspection

Darbhanga: General manager, East Central Railway, A.K. Shrivastava carried out routine inspection of the railway line between Samastipur and Darbhanga on Friday. He was accompanied by divisional railway manager S.P. Tribedi and senior divisional commercial manager Samir Kumar.

Suicide

Chhapra: A middle-aged couple committed suicide on Thursday night by consuming poison. The deceased have been identified as Raju Srivastav and Sandhya Srivastav.

Lynched

Siwan: One Rajendra Bhagat (65) was beaten to death at Narayanpur village under Naitan police station on Friday . According to information Rajendra had gone to arrange for wood for the last rites of one of his relatives and was cutting a tree. Some villagers objected to it and a scuffle ensued.

Man drowns

Siwan: One Brijnath Tiwary of Kumati Vitauli village under Darauli police station drowned in Saryu river on Friday.

Strike

Gaya: Work remained paralysed on Friday in all the offices located on the Gaya collectorate premises. The collectorate campus wore a deserted look following the strike by Grade IV employees.
