Cheque for rifle

Patna: Former minister Devesh Chandra Thakur presented national-level shooter Meera Kumar a cheque of Rs 2.75 lakh on Sunday to help her purchase a sports rifle. eera had missed out on a number of international championships for not having a rifle.

Biada scam

Patna: Leader of Opposition Abdul Bari Siddiqui on Sunday presented a letter, written by Vijay Prakash, then chairman-cum- managing director of Bihar State Industrial Development Corporation Limited. In the letter, Prakash informed the chief secretary how Biada illegally took over Bihar Scooter Limited in Fatuha.

Compensation

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar announced on Sunday a compen- sation of Rs 1.5 lakh to the families of each of the 26 persons killed by lightning.

Rescue

Gaya: Police rescued Shabbir Alam, a Class IX student, from Sherghati sub-division on Sunday. His three abductors were arrested.

Recovery

Patna: The body of an infant stuffed in a jute sack was recovered from a garbage bin in Chaitola area.

Arrests

Patna: Patna police on Sunday claimed that they had arrested 202 criminals over the past two days under a special campaign.

Samastipur: A three-member team of mobile lok adalat disposed 1,396 pre-litigation cases during its four-day programme that ended on Saturday evening.

Effigy burnt

Raxaul: Residents burnt an effigy of chief minister Nitish Kumar to protest against the indifferent attitude of MPs and MLAs towards their problems.
