FIR against minister

Patna: An FIR has been lodged against rural development minister Nitish Mishra in connection with the death of a 60-year-old man Padam Lal Thakur. The minister’s escort vehicle allegedly ran over Thakur near Phulpras Referral Hospital on National Highway 57 in Madhubani district late on Saturday evening. hulpras sub-divisional police officer Bishram Dass said Thakur’s relatives lodged the FIR against Mishra.

Kids rescued

Patna: A team of labour department officials rescued 54 children from Gaya and Patna, who were forced to work as child labourers in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Assistant labour commissioner Sujeet Kumar Rai on Sunday said the children were employed as labourers in some embroidery centres and units making bangles and bags.

Rally plans

Patna: Bihar Youth Congress will take out four rallies in Motihari, Khagaria, Darbhanga and Patna to highlight the failure of the Nitish Kumar government, said the state unit president Lallan Kumar. The date of the rallies is yet to be finalised.

Green dharna

Patna: GM Free Bihar Movement on Sunday staged a dharna at Kargil Chowk against Biotechnology Regulatory Authority of India (BRAI) bill. The protesters claimed the bill is anti-people and anti-nature.

Missing boy

Patna: Family members of BIT Colony resident Rituraj, 13, lodged a diary at the Patrakar Nagar police station, as the Class VII student of Lohiya Mount Carmel School has been missing since Saturday morning.

Liquor seized

Patna: A team from the Shastri Nagar police on Sunday recovered a large quantity of liquor, which was stored in a betel shop in the Mandiri area. Police claimed one Tota Yadav used to sell the liquor at night. No one has been arrested.

Mishap kills 2

Patna: A couple died on Sunday after their car fell into a pond in the Maqsudpur area under Daniama police station. Police said the incident occurred early in the morning. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
