Railway helpline number

Patna: Indian Railways on Friday launched a round-the-clock security helpline number, 1322, to provide speedy assistance to passengers in cases of theft, harassment or other criminal incidents on the railway premises. ast Central Railway chief public relations officer Arvind Kumar Rajak said passengers can call on 1322 throughout the day if they find any suspicious thing on the railways premises.

Suspension

Patna: Arun Kumar Sinha, the sub-divisional police officer of Kaimur, was suspended on Friday for dereliction of duty during his posting in Begusarai district.

Quiz feat

Patna: Don Bosco Academy, Patna, won the Association of Schools for India School Certificate zonal level inter-school quiz competition held on Friday.

Rebels in net

Muzaffarpur: Three Maoists, Ratnakar, Bharat Sahni and Devendra Sahni, were arrested from Aura village in Sheohar on Friday.

Bribe arrest

Patna: Two government employees, including a circle officer, were arrested by the vigilance bureau on Friday from Munger and Vaishali districts on the charge of accepting bribe.

Bikers snatch lakhs

Naugachia, Aug. 8: Criminals on motorcycles chased one Niraj Kumar and looted Rs 9 lakh from him today near Tetri.iraj was on his way to Bhagalpur to deposit the money in a bank. According to Shekhar Kumar, the Naugachhia superintendent of police, Niraj works at a gas station owned by Ajit Sharma, the Congress candidate for the Bhagalpur bypoll on August 21.

Arrest

Patna: Sardar Lakshman Singh, the prime accused in the 1997 massacre at Haibaspur in Patna rural, was arrested from Kab village today.

Youth killed

Samastipur: A 17-year boy, Vishak Kumar, a resident of Dalsing Sarai and an Intermediate student at Gurukul Science Academy, was beaten up by criminals on Friday at Samastipur railway station. He succumbed to his injuries.

Solar power

Patna: Nineteen railway stations under East Central Railway (ECR) would be fitted with solar power facility. A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of senior ECR officials on Friday.

Patna: The government on Friday told the high court that rules governing meat sale had been notified and it has been open for the public to invite objections. The order was passed by a division bench of the high court on a PIL filed by one Swami Rakesh.

Patna: The health department on Friday decided to open urban primary health centres at 61 places in 14 different districts.
