Two get life term

Patna: Additional district and sessions judge Ramesh Chandra Singh on Saturday awarded life sentence to two persons for kidnapping a retired superintendent engineer in 2004. he convicts — Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Meethapur, and Mukesh Kumar of Abdullachak — were imposed a fine of Rs 20,000. The accused had released the engineer, Mahavir Prasad, after receiving a ransom of Rs 3.5 lakh.

Wire order

Patna: North Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd managing director Sanjay Kumar Agrawal on Saturday directed officials to replace 25 to 30km of dilapidated wires every month for smooth supply. Around 1,000km of electric cables would be replaced in May in 21 districts of north Bihar.

Demise

Patna: Judges and senior advocates of Patna High Court on Saturday expressed grief over the demise of Justice (retd) B.N. Singh Neelam, who died in New Delhi on Friday. The cremation would be conducted at Saharsa on Sunday.

Patna: Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee Ashok Choudhary on Saturday expanded the Pradesh Congress Media Committee and included Chandan Yadav and Rajesh Kumar Sinha as party spokespersons.
