BHRC for aged people

Patna: Bihar Human Rights Commission on Friday wrote letters to the principal secretaries of the health and transport departments asking them to implement the provisions of Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007. he panel has sought arrangements for provision of a separate queue for senior citizens, providing them beds and facilities in government hospitals.

Farmers’ gripe

Patna: The Sugarcane Farmers’ Association has decided to move court alleging that factories do not make payments to the tillers within the stipulated time — 14 days.

Food fest

Patna: A food festival was organised by Bishop Scott Girl’s School on Friday in which students prepared cuisines from different states.

Patna: Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman Prem Chandra Mishra on Friday said Union finance minister P. Chidambaram would visit the party’s state headquarters Sadaquat Ashram on Saturday afternoon.

Park order

Patna: The bench of Justice Shailesh Kumar Sinha on Friday directed Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation and the urban development department to complete the construction work of a park within four months at sector B and C of Police Colony in the Anisabad area.

Senior concern

Patna: Bihar State Human Rights commis sion member Neel Maniwrote letters to on Friday the principal secretaries of health and transport departments asking them to implement the provisions of Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007. n his letters, Mani asked for making special provisions for senior citizens in government hospitals. He also asked for reservation of five seats in buses for senior citizens.

Petition

Patna: The Sugarcane Farmers’ Association has decided to move court on the issue of timely payment for sugarcane procured by factories. Association joint secretary Chote Srivastava on Friday said farmers should get payment within 14 days.

Arrest

Patna: Three criminals — Shankar Rai alias Shankar Gope, who has 10 cases against him, Santosh Kumar alias Sanju, who has seven cases lodged against him, and Sanjeev Kumar — were arrested on Friday from the Pahelwan Ghat area under the jurisdiction of Buddha Colony police station.
