Patna, June 22: A police team from the state capital would visit Katihar in a day or two to gather information about property amassed by the chairman-cum-managing director of Katihar Medical College, Ahmad Ashfaque Karim. arim was arrested from his Ashiana- Digha road residence on June 15.

Building drive

Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation commissioner Kuldip Narayan on Saturday said the civic body would soon launch a drive against illegal buildings in the city. He added that the corporation has identified around 1,000 under-construction buildings, which, prima facie, are being constructed in violation of building by-laws.

Duo held

Patna: Two alleged gangsters — Amit Kumar Pandey and Abhishek Jha — were arrested and two Pakistan-made pistols seized from them during an operation in Sitamarhi on Saturday. Both were wanted in cases of extortion and other offences in Sitamarhi, Sheohar, East Champaran and Muzaffarpur districts.

Assets case

Patna: The state vigilance investigation bureau filed a disproportionate assets case on Saturday in a special vigilance court against a former stenographer and typist of Bihar Public Service Commission Ramashish Singh Yadav, his wife Malti and brother Awadhesh Kumar Singh. The court fixed the next date of hearing on June 24.
