Case for divide at helm

Katihar: Social activist Arun Tiger on Thursday filed a complaint against chief minister Nitish Kumar and JD(U) national president Sharad Yadav at a local court, alleging that they breached the trust of over 10 crore people of the state by breaking away from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). he activist lodged the complaint before the court of chief judicial magistrate Piyush Kamal Dikshit.

Rebels held

Patna: Four Maoists, identified as Santosh Kumar Singh, Bhawani Shanker, Arun Kumar Singh and Umesh Yadav, were arrested under the jurisdiction of Patrakarnagar police station on Thursday. Five cellphones, Naxalite literature and Rs 32,000 collected as levy, were seized.

Cong meet

Patna: The newly appointed general secretary of Congress, Shakeel Ahmed, would hold meetings with party state president Ashok Choudhary and Congress Legislature Party leader Sadanand Singh at Sadaquat Ashram on June 22.

Superfast train

Patna: East Central Railway on Thursday took a decision to change the Black Diamond Express (13317/13318) into a superfast train to run between Howrah and Dhanbad.

Pollution drive

Patna: Police will launch a 10-day drive to check pollution levels of vehicles from next week. Motorists will be given a three-day notice period before the drive begins.

PR activity

Patna: Information and public relations department secretary Brajesh Mehrotra on Thursday directed the public relations officers to raise awareness about the work being done by the state government at a state-level meeting. The secretary also reviewed the progress of district information centres.

Workshop

Patna: Institute of Objective studies, the knowledge resource centre of Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University, would organise a 50-day national workshop-cum-training programme to strengthen library services.

Traffic order

B>n Patna: Divisional commissioner ELSN Bala Prasad on Thursday directed the officials concerned to take necessary steps for improving city traffic and also to put an effective check on pollution. e issued this directive while chairing a meeting convened to discuss the city traffic. The commissioner also reviewed the steps being taken by the district administration to implement the directives issued by the Patna High Court in this regard.

Health camp

B>n Patna: Public Awareness for Healthful Approach for Living (Pahal) and Rotary Patliputra on Thursday organised a Vitamin D-3 check-up camp in which 25 people were examined. Addressing the participants, Pahal health director Dr Diwakar Tejaswi spoke about the importance of Vitamin D-3 for keeping bones and teeth in good shape.

Durbar

B>n Patna: District magistrate N. Saravana Kumar on Thursday listened to the complaints of more than hundred people during his weekly janata durbar at the Patna collectorate. Most of the grievances were related to Anganwadi, old-age pension scheme, Indira Awas Yojana, midday meal and encroachment.

Admission

B>n Patna: Head of Patna University Maithili department, Virendra Jha, on Thursday asked applicants to attach the humanities quota forms along with their applications for admission to the honours course. Only students who fulfil the criteria would be considered for admission.
