Doctor death threat

Patna: Navin Kumar, the proprietor of a nursing home in Vaishali district, has got a threat to his life for not paying Rs 50 lakh as extortion. umar received at least three calls between August 3 and August 5. He has lodged an FIR with the Mahua police station.

Patna: Police on Wednesday nabbed a gang involved in extorting transporters in Khagaul and Danapur. Five cellphones and Rs 4,800 were seized from the arrested persons.

Sentence

Patna: Special CBI judge Bashishth Narayan Singh on Wednesday sentenced former intelligence officer of the directorate of revenue intelligence, Patna, Daya Shankar Singh and former constable Bhagwan Mahto to two years rigorous imprisonment in connection with a bribery case.

Pump vigil

Patna: District magistrate N. Saravana Kumar has written letters to all the administrative officers to maintain strict vigil on handpumps to prevent criminals from contaminating them with poison.

Modi volley

Patna: Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday alleged that Congress is trying to save the JD(U) and the RJD with the help of CBI. Modi said solicitor-general Mohan Parasaran did not object to RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s plea in Supreme Court to change the judge of CBI special court in the fodder scam case.

Mob violence

Patna: Police had to face the wrath of a mob, which indulged in stone pelting and arson at Hasanpur village in Vaishali district on Wednesday to protest the murder of one Ajay Rai. The mob also attacked the house of Pramod Patel, who was suspected to be involved in the murder.

Bagaha probe

Bagaha, Aug. 7: The panel led by Justice (retired) Rajendra Prasad, which is looking into the Bagaha police firing incident, today recorded the statements of 31 people. ustice Prasad visited Mahuawa Kataharia village yesterday where the firing had occurred.

Motihari: The forest department plans to supply around 2 lakh teak and fruit-bearing saplings to tillers in East Champaran by September.

Patna: Public health and engineering department secretary Ravindra Panwar has been transferred and made director-general of Centre for Good Governance Society. Ansuli Arya would replace Panwar.
