Durbar pleas

Patna: District magistrate, Patna, N. Saravana Kumar on Thursday directed officials concerned to look into complaints, filed by people coming to his janata durbar, on a priority basis. e issued the directive after listening to complainants who turned up at his weekly janata durbar on Thursday. Most of the cases were related to land disputes and family problems.

Condolences

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday mourned the death of socialist leader Chaturbhuj Prasad Singh. He breathed his last at his residence in Patna on Wednesday night. He was 93.

Online system success

Patna: The online complaint system launched by Patna police earlier this month is gaining ground with 32 FIRs having been lodged till now, Patna senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj said on Thursday. he officer said the cases have been referred to the respective police stations. The applications have been forwarded to 19 police stations in the state capital. The officer added that there were some police stations, which still did not have their e-mail IDs and the police were looking towards the same.

Volleyball

Gaya: A three-day international volleyball tournament between disabled sportsperson teams of India and Sri Lanka would be organised at Kalchakra ground in Bodhgaya and at the indoor stadium in Gaya town from October 22 to 24. The tournament’s organising chairman, Farasat Hussain, on Thursday said 13 female and 12 male sportspersons from Sri Lanka would reach Bodhgaya on October 19. Sportspersons from Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Delhi and Gaya would represent the Indian team in the tournament.

Health meet

Patna: The Indian Medical Association would organise a continuous medical education programme on renal replacement therapy. A press note on Thursday said experts from the field would share detailed information about the therapy in the programme scheduled to be held on October 19 at the IMA Hall.

Phailin review

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday directed the disaster management department officials to conduct a survey to assess the damage caused by cyclone Phailin in Bihar. Nitish issued the directive after holding a review meeting in which the damage caused by the cyclone was discussed.
