ATM fraud probe

Patna: A Patna police team on Wednesday left for Jharkhand to gather information about a criminal gang involved in duping people of several lakhs of rupees after fraudulently procuring pin numbers of their ATM cards. he police launched an investigation after a complaint was lodged with Patna senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj by a senior bank official Chandra Shekhar Mishra last week. Manu said preliminary investigation indicated at the involvement of a Jharkhand-based gang in the offence.

Crop advisory

Patna: The agriculture department has issued an advisory to the farmers of the state to deal with the situation arising out of the impact of Phailin cyclone, a release issued on Wednesday said. Agriculture Production Commissioner Ashok Kumar Chauhan, who reviewed the preparedness to deal with the situation, asked the officials to tell the farmers the methods to protect the crops.

CM wishes

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday greeted people of the state and the country on Bakrid. He visited the residence of social welfare minister Parveen Amanullah’s residence, where he was welcomed by senior IAS officer Afzal Amanullah and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah. Kumar greeted them and had sewai on the occasion.

SBI fire

Patna: A fire broke out on the first floor of the main branch of State Bank of India near Gandhi Maidan around 7am on Wednesday. Three fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames. Gandhi Maidan police said a short circuit triggered the fire, which could be doused almost after an hour. Assets worth Rs 20 lakh, including electronic gadgets, were damaged.

Screens for BJP rally

Patna, Oct. 16: The BJP on Wednesday claimed that the Hunkar Rally would turn out to be the mother of all rallies held so far at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan. enior leader Nand Kishore Yadav said 30 LED screens would be set up at the maidan on October 27 so that the participants can have a good view of the leaders speaking at the rally.

Hunkar tour

Patna: BJP leader Ashwini Kumar Choubey would embark on a tour of 15 districts on Thursday to garner support for the Hunkar Rally. BJP national vice-president C.P. Thakur will flag off the vehicle in which Choubey would undertake the tour at Kahalgaon.

Patna: MP Radha Mohan Singh, the BJP’s disciplinary committee head, would undertake a tour of nine districts to solicit the people’s support for the Hunkar Rally.

Jail violence

Nashik (PTI): A prisoner killed a fellow inmate and injured another at the central jail in Nashik on Wednesday. Sopan Pagare, 26, attacked Vishal and Vijay with a wooden stick while they were asleep. Vishal later died in hospital. The three had a quarrel on Tuesday night.
