Molest slur on cleaner

Patna: A middle-aged woman was allegedly molested by the cleaner of a city-ride bus under the jurisdiction of the Gandhi Maidan police station on Sunday. he victim, a resident of Kankerbagh locality, said she had been molested by the cleaner of the bus when she along with her two children was alighting from the vehicle. She was on way to her residence after taking a bath in the Ganga at Gandhi Ghat. The accused escaped with the vehicle after she raised an alarm. A police officer said the bus had been seized on the statement of the victim.

20 injured

Purnea/Banka (PTI): Altogether 20 people were injured in separate road accidents on Sunday. Fifteen passengers sustained injuries, four of them suffered seriously, when a bus overturned on the NH-57 near Garbanaully Bazaar in Purnea district, sub-divisional police officer Manoj Kumar said. Five persons were injured, one of them seriously, when a police jeep collided with another jeep on the Chandan river bridge in Banka district, deputy superintendent of police (HQ), B.K. Das said. The injured persons were admitted to a hospital.

Rape flak

Patna: State BJP spokesperson Suresh Rungta criticised the government for recent rape incidents in the state. Rungta said when people protested a recent gang rape in Vashali district, police officers used canes on them.

Modi swipe

Patna: Former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi condemned the state government for not including the names of BJP legislators in the advertisements of the renovated Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Station. According to Modi, BJP MLAs also took part in the function but their names were not mentioned in the advertisement.

Health check-up camp

Patna: Around 150 people took part in a free health camp in the city on Sunday.he camp was organised by Bihar Pradesh Marwari Sammelan, in collaboration with Paras HMRI Hospital, at the office of Bihar Pradeshik Marwari Sammelan.

Toys for kids

Patna: First lady of the state Pushpalata D. Patil on Sunday distributed toys among schoolchildren in a programme at Raj Bhavan. She said toys and traditional sports play an importance role in one’s childhood even in the present age of electronics.

Driveway

Patna: Physician Gopal Prasad Sinha on Sunday urged the government to name the upcoming Ganga driveway after the first President of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad. He attributed this demand to the desire of a majority of city residents because Prasad’s memorial is located along the bank of river Ganga.

Training

Patna: Integrated Child Development Services, in collaboration with Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), the state chapter of Unicef, and Breastfeeding Protection Network of India started a month-long training programme on infants and child breastfeeding on Sunday. Arun Thakur, the head of paediatric department, NMCH, chaired the inaugural session of the training programme.

Fitness

Patna: Around 267 people took part in a free health camp at Agrasen Bhavan on Sunday. Agrasen Seva Nyas, a non-government organisation, organised it. Forty-three people were found suffering from glaucoma, 32 from diabetes and 30 from dental problems.

Word game

Patna: Shuchismita Upadhyay of Bangalore won the 6th weekly round of the ongoing Indian Crossword League, an initiative of civil society organisation, Extra C, to mark the centenary year of crosswords. huchismita is the first woman to have clinched the top position since the league began.

Anand tips

Patna: Super 30 founder Anand Kumar on Sunday said the role of educated youths in the social sector was invaluable if a country wanted to realise the avowed objective of inclusive growth. He was speaking at XLRI Jamshedpur’s flagship annual business summit, Ensemble 2013.

Seminar

Patna: Food and consumer protection department minister Shyam Rajak inaugurated a seminar on “Art of success”, organised by Chanakya IAS Academy, on Sunday. Addressing the participants, success guru A.K. Mishra shared success mantras with the participants. Rajak also launched CDs and DVDs of the programme.
