Patna: Police on Thursday busted a seven-member gang involved in the printing of fake educational certificates of different colleges across the country and selling them to students for Rs 5,000-Rs 10,000. cting on a tip-off, cops raided two cyber cafés in Saketpuri and LIG Colony area under Patrakar Nagar police station area in Patna and recovered many fake certificates. Some migration certificates and marksheets of Patna University, Magadh University, Cochin University of Science and Technology and others were recovered. The recovery included Rs 24,000, nine cellphones and certificates. Patna: Police on Thursday nabbed three criminals planning a loot near Chuharmal Gate near NH-31 under Bypass police station. The arrested were identified as Satish Mahto, Sone Lal and Thengu Mahto. Two country-made pistols, three live cartridges, a motorcycle and a cellphone were recovered from them. Patna: Police on Thursday nabbed four sex workers from Patna Junction area under Kotwali police station. A CCTV camera near the station roundabout caught the women negotiating with people and prompted the police to nab them. Two autorickshaw drivers were also arrested. Patna: Special CBI judge B.N. Singh on Thursday sentenced former superintendent of post-office, Nalanda division, Biharsharif, Sushil Jha and peon Baleshwar Prasad to two years’ rigorous imprisonment in connection with a bribery case. Both accused were arrested on November 10, 2006, while they were a bribe of Rs 5,000 from one Chandrika Das for sending Das on deputation against a vacant Group D post in Athmalgola branch in Barh subdivision. B>Patna: Former BJP minister Sunil Kumar on Thursday criticised the arrest of traders following their clash with commercial tax department officials on Wednesday. He said the tax officials were raiding the same markets again and again, evoking suspicion. “During Sushil Kumar Modi’s tenure as minister, commercial tax collection increased without raids,” said the former minister, stressing that the Nitish government was losing its grip over its officials. B>Patna: BJP MLAs Nityanand Rai and Ashok Yadav charged the Nitish government with false implication of opposition legislators. They alleged that the police had lodged a case against MLC Nawal Kishore Yadav in connection with a hotel with which the legislator had no connection.
