Patna: Members of All India Students’ Association on Friday staged a protest near the Patna collectorate in demand for release of students implicated in false cases.

Nabard head

Patna: Rajit Kumar Das has assumed the charge of chief general manager of the Bihar regional office of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard). Nabard press note on Friday said Das had comprehensive and varied experience in development economics and related subjects.

Bank visit

Patna: Chairperson-cum-managing director of Punjab National Bank, K.R. Kamath visited Gaya and Bihar Sharif during his two-day visit to the state. A press note said the chairperson asked the officials to put in efforts for the financial uplift of the people of the state.

Culture curry

Patna: A cultural programme was organised at Patna Central School on Friday on the occasion of departure of a cultural team of Mauritius, which had visited the school. Speaking on the occasion, Acharya Sudarshan said the visit of Mauritian team was beginning of cultural ties between the island country and the school.

Winter aid

Patna: Members of Indian Red Cross Society on Friday distributed blankets and woollen caps among the homeless. A press note said 430 blankets and 100 caps were distributed.

Funds jab at govt

Patna, Jan. 17: Members of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee today accused the state government of not being able to use development funds. arty spokesperson V.K. Thakur said on one hand, the state government was not able to use the allotted funds and on the other, it was demanding special status asking for more.

Arrest plea

Patna: A high court division bench of Justice Iqbal Ahmad Ansari and Justice Samarendra Pratap Singh on Friday reserved its order on a petition filed by Ahmad Ashfaque Karim, the chairman and managing director of Katihar Medical College and Hospital. In the petition, he challenged his arrest in connection with the disproportionate assets case lodged by the vigilance.

BPatna: A high court bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh on Friday directed police not to take coercive action, till further order, against the six students of Patna College who were allegedly found indulging in a clash between two groups on December 11, 2013 on Ashok Rajpath.

Patna: The state human rights commission has issued notices to officials concerned on the basis of a petition filed by one Parvati Devi of Ghodbandi village in Madhubani district. She had stated that her husband, Shivshankar Pandey, was not being released from jail even after completing his term.
