Goons loot trader

Patna: Three criminals snatched Rs 1 lakh from an employee of a Ghazipur-based wholesale dealer of betel nuts, Mohan Ram, near Jahajghat in Buxar district on Thursday. he victim has been admitted to the Buxar sadar hospital in a precarious condition. The police have, however, failed to make by breakthrough in the case.

Robbery

Patna: Passengers of a private bus were robbed of Rs 14,000 and other valuables worth Rs 1 lakh near Mayabigha village on Deoghar-Rajgir road in Nawada district on Wednesday night. The incident occurred when the victims were on their way to Rajgir in Nalanda from Deoghar in Jharkhand. A complaint has been lodged with Kadirganj police outpost.

Industry head

Patna: Lesi Singh, who had been included in the cabinet by the Nitish Kumar government, has been given the charge of the industries department. The earlier minister of the department, Renu Kumari, has resigned recently.

Gang busted

Patna: Five criminals were nabbed and one rifle and two live cartridges were recovered. The arrests were made on the basis of a tip-off from PC Colony. The men were also involved in drug trafficking, police said and they have cases lodged against them in Kotwali and Kankerbagh police stations.

Suicide

Patna: A 40-year-old woman hanged herself on Thursday at her house under the Gardanibagh police station area. The police said Ashwini Sinha, the deceased, was sad and depressed after her husband passed away in February this year. The woman has left a suicide note in which she has mentioned the same, the police said.

Cop probe

Patna: The Patna police on Thursday said they were very near to solving the brutal rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl, whose body had been recovered from a septic tank in an under-construction building at the Phulwarisharif area on March 9. Sources said six men had been nabbed and the post-mortem report showed that the girl was killed brutally.

Sports honour

Patna: Two players from Bihar, Bipul Kumar and Puja Kumari, would take part at the Junior World Taekwondo Championship at Taipei, from March 20 to 26. The two are part of the Indian team that would participate in the tournament.

Haj adalat

Patna: A Haj adalat for prospective applicants was organised at the Regional Passport Office, Maurya Lok Complex on Thursday. A total of 420 passport applicants who have not received the passport applying for Haj participated in the adalat. Of 420 applicants, 347 were given passport number and their passports would be dispatched.
