Couple arrest warrant

Patna, March 26: The court of district and sessions judge Arun Kumar today issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Suresh Khalifa, alias Suresh Nat, and his wife Pinki Khatoon in a human trafficking case.he couple, hailing from Begusarai, have been charged with running a sex racket.

Sushil rally

Gaya: BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi addressing a campaign at Belaganj in Gaya on Wednesday, said price rise was the main issue in this general election.

RJD jabs

Patna: RJD national spokesperson Manoj Kumar Jha on Wednesday attacked the BJP and termed the Narendra Modi wave a pseudo-wave. Jha also took a dig at chief minister Nitish Kumar and said that the JD(U) would not win even a single Lok Sabha seat this general election.

Court hours

Patna: The working hours of civil court in Patna have been rescheduled with effect from April 7, 2014. While the office would remain opened from 7am to 1pm, the court would function from 7am to 12.30pm.

Cop transfers

Patna: Assistant inspector-general (AIG) in the police headquarters P. Kannan would replace Chandrika Prasad, the Samastipur superintendent of police (SP). Muzaffarpur senior superintendent of police Saurav Kumar would be replaced by SP (security) in the special branch, Ranjeet Kumar Mishra. Daljit Singh, AIG at the headquarters, has been made the SP of Katihar.

Course prod to varsity

Patna: The high court bench of Justice Ajay Kumar Tripathi on Wednesday directed Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, to grant affiliation to two institutions for running BEd courses.

The bench was hearing writ petitions filed by National College of Education, Muzaffarpur, and Radha Krishna College, Motihari, regarding the affiliation. The petition submitted that both the institutions have already been granted approval for starting BEd courses by National Council For Teacher Education but the university was not granting affiliation on the pretext of the model code of conduct.

New entrants

Patna: Former RJD office-bearer Suresh Sahni and senior advocate of Patna High Court Parvesh Kumar Sharma joined the BJP on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, BJP state president Mangal Pandey said Sahni would strengthen the party in the Motihari region.

Health meet

Patna: A consultant radiation oncologist with a Bangalore-based hospital, at a news meet on Wednesday, said early diagnosis and proper treatment can improve the condition of a brain tumour patient.

Fencing team

Patna: The fencing team of Bihar on Wednesday left for Raipur to take part in the 21st National Junior Fencing Competition. The Bihar Fencing Association said Abhayjeet Kumar would lead the men’s team, while the girls would be led by Nikita Sahu.

Libya release

Patna: Public Mission, a civil society organisation, has written letters to the central and state governments seeking their intervention for the safe release of Patna boy Brij Bihari Kumar from a jail in Libya. A note from the organisation said Kumar was working with a shipping company of Saudi Arabia and had gone to Libya on a ship where he was put behind bars.

Nomination

Ara: The sitting JD(U) MP from Ara, Meena Singh, and Bhagwan Kushwaha of the RJD filed their nominations on Wednesday.
