Bribe arrest

Patna: Ram Murthy Jha, medical officer, Muroul block, Muzaffarpur, was arrested by the vigilance sleuths for accepting a bribe from a peon of Kanti primary health centre for clearing his attendance report.

Kidnap FIR

Gopalganj: An FIR was lodged on Friday in connection with the abduction of Vijay Gupta (22), a transport trader, on Thursday night.

Tributes

Vote notice

Patna, April 11: Elections notification in Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Maharajganj, Saran, Hajipur and Ujiarpur constituencies would be issued on Saturday. otes for these seats would be cast on May 7.

BJP stand

Patna: State BJP unit president Mangal Pandey attacked chief minister Nitish Kumar, claiming that Narendra Modi had promised the people of Bihar that if BJP is voted to power at the Centre, it would give a special package and special status to the state.

Advani meet

Patna: Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani would address public meetings at Banka and Katihar on April 14. n the same day, former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, along with LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan and RLSP president Upendra Kushwaha, would address public meetings at Buxar, Ara and Jehanabad.

FIR heat

Buxar: An FIR lodged against BSP candidate Dadan Singh Pahalwan for violation of the model code of conduct at Brahmpur in Buxar on Friday. He was carrying more speakers on the campaign than what granted by the administration, sources said.

Retirement

Patna: Mohammad Shahid Akhtar, deputy superintendent of police (rail), Patna, has been given voluntary retirement with effect from April 1, 2014, a notification issued by the home (police) department on Friday said. Akhtar had approached the government seeking his voluntary retirement in December last year.

Poll dates

Patna: Elections notification in Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Maharajganj, Saran, Hajipur and Ujiarpur constituencies would be issued on Saturday. The last date of filing nomination papers and scrutiny of the papers would be done on April 19 and April 21 respectively. The last date to withdraw candidature is April 23. Votes for these seats would be cast on May 7.

Re-polling

Patna: Field officials have recommended re-polling at 33 polling booths where votes were cast for parliamentary elections on Thursday. Sources said the highest number of booths (19) where re-polling has been recommended falls under Jamui seat parliamentary constituency.

Violence

Patna: Tension gripped Nawada following clashes between the supporters of two rival candidates over extending their support in the elections on Friday. Three of the seriously injured have been admitted to the Nawada sadar hospital. Five persons, including three women, were beaten up after the polling was over.

Urge to vote

Patna: BJP candidate from Pataliputra constituency Ram Kripal Yadav took part in a mass contact programme in Bihta, Raghopur and Naubatpur areas of the constituency on Friday.
