Power cut for 2 hours

Patna: Power would be unavailable for around two hours on Saturday in some areas of Kankerbagh because of a shutdown of 33KV Pahari feeder, Bihar State Power (Holding) Company deputy general manager (public relations) H.R. Pandey said. he areas that would be affected by the power cut include Transport Nagar, Bhagwat Nagar, Kumhrar, Pahari and Shantiniketan Colony. The feeder would be shut down for two hours because of four-laning a road in the area.

Ultimatum

Bhagalpur: Residents, led by Bhagalpur deputy mayor Priti Sekhar, gave the power distribution company a 72-hour ultimatum on Thursday evening to correct the power situation in town after five days of inadequate supply and unbearable heat.

Contempt suit

Patna: The high court on Friday summoned the Patna University registrar and the law officer in a contempt case filed by one Suraj Devi in a case related to non-receipt of retirement benefits of her husband. The Grade IV employee of BN College went missing more than seven years ago and is yet to be traced. As per government rule, if a person is missing for more than seven years, he/she is considered dead.

Voter slip

Patna: Residents who would cast their votes in the final phase of the ongoing general election in Bihar can receive their voter slips from the respective booth-level officers on the day of polling, May 12.

Patna: Sir Ganesh Dutta Vichar Manch on Friday organised a seminar to mark the birth anniversary of Acharya Mahavir Prasad Dwivedi in which participants spoke about his contribution to Hindi literature.

Bhagalpur: Two persons, including one Mohammad Maner, were arrested late on Thursday evening in a case in which a manager of a petrol pump at Tilka Manjhi Chowk was robbed of Rs 5 lakh on April 28 this year.

Graft FIR

Bhagalpur: The manager of State Bank of India, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College branch, filed an FIR with Barari police station on Thursday evening accusing a former officer of the branch, Sushil Kumar Verma, of defalcation of Rs 38.35 lakh.
