Plan to promote officers
Patna: The departmental promotion committee headed by chief secretary A.K. Sinha on Thursday recommended promotion of nine IPS officers of 1996 batch to the rank of inspector-general. hese officers were currently posted as deputy inspectors-general.
Transfer
Patna: The state government on Thursday transferred six deputy superintendents of police, including the sub-divisional police officer of Patna Sadar. Ramakant Prasad, who was posted as sub-divisional police officer of Piro in Bhojpur would be the new SDPO of Patna sadar.

Patna: Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries expressed concern over a commercial taxes department proposal that talks of imposing entry tax on all goods coming to the state from outside.
Second division funds
Patna: Muslim and SC/ST students securing second division in their matriculation exams would receive Rs 10,000 as scholarship, announced chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Thursday.
Till now, only students securing first division enjoyed the scholarship.

Muzaffarpur: Bhagsavar Manjhi, an undertrial, was found hanging from a tree inside the Khudiram Bose Memorial Central Jail on Thursday morning. The body was sent for autopsy.
