Banana subsidy

Patna: Agriculture department will provide farmers subsidy up to Rs 62,500 per hectare to promote among them banana cultivation through tissue culture. Agriculture minister Prem Kumar said on Tuesday that the department aims to achieve a physical target of 2,100 hectare for banana farming through this method.

NGO report

Patna: Gender Alliance, a consortium of over 270 organizations working against child marriage and dowry, on Tuesday released a report on the social (sex-ratio) and economic index of various blocks in the states. It said the co-relation reflected the possibility of higher or lesser chances of child marriages in a particular block.

ED summons Rabri

New Delhi, Sept. 19 (PTI): The Enforcement Directorate summoned former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi in connection with its money-laundering probe in the railway hotels allotment case, officials said on Tuesday. Rabri has been asked to be present before the investigating officer (IO) of the case on September 26. The IO is expected to record her statement under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), under which it had registered an FIR against the Lalu Prasad family and others sometime back.

Defamation case against Lalu

Patna (PTI): A gems and jewellery trader, Ravi Jalan, on Tuesday filed a defamation case against RJD president Lalu Prasad and his son Tejaswi Prasad Yadav for making 'wild' allegations against him in the multi-crore Srijan scam. The matter would come up for hearing in the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court here on Wednesday.

Taslimuddin

Araria (PTI): RJD leader and MP from Araria, Mohammad Taslimuddin, was laid to rest with full state honours in his village here on Wednesday. Taslimuddin (74) died at a hospital in Chennai on Sunday.
