Child sold

Patna: A woman with help from her mother, allegedly sold her infant son to a resident of Mushahari in Muzaffarpur last week. The "sale" came to light after the boy's grandfather, a resident of Sarai in Vaishali district, filed a complaint with Mushahari police station against three persons on Friday.

Sikh honour

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar will be honoured by Siromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, New Delhi, at Gurudwara Rakabganj on Sunday. JDU general secretary K.C. Tyagi said the Sikh body will honour him for excellently organising the 350th Prakash Utsav of Guru Gobind Singh in Patna in December-January. Nitish will participate in a meeting of Sikh intellectuals at Constitution Club in Delhi on Sunday. He will be leaving for Delhi on Saturday evening.

Maoist threat

Patna: Security personnel seized a hand-written pamphlet from a government school in Nawada district on Friday. The note, allegedly written by Maoists, threatened to avenge the death of four guerrillas on Wednesday.

Patna: District magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal inaugurated a spruced up immunisation centre at New Gardiner Road Hospital on Friday for vaccination of babies and mothers.

Diabetes

Patna: Around 35 per cent of women suffering from gestational diabetes are likely to suffer from type 2 diabetes around 10 years after pregnancy, the Diabetes in Pregnancy Study Group of India said on Friday.
