FIR against mayor

? Patna, Jan. 30: An FIR has been lodged at Bahadurpur police station against Patna mayor Afzal Imam and another person, identified as Kallu Mahto, for threatening and extortion.

The FIR has been lodged by Danish Abedin, who runs a school, accusing Imam and Mahto of trying to capture Abedin's plot and demanding Rs 30 lakh. He added that he was threatened with dire consequences. Police said investigation is on.

Motihari: Police have questioned Rupesh Giri, a constable presently posted as bodyguard of Paharpur block development officer, in connection with a case on Thursday, in which criminals looted about 2kg gold and Rs 12 lakh in cash from Calcutta gold trader Bapi Mandal in a running train near Motihari.

? Patna: BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi will campaign for BJP candidates in around seven constituencies in Delhi Assembly elections. The BJP leader along with Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh will campaign on February 1 and 2.

Arrest

? Patna: Chandar Paswan alias Ramchandar, wanted by police of four districts in Kosi region, was arrested from Jankinagar in Purnea on Friday. Chandar, a resident of Jagdish, was evading arrest for the past 17 years in cases related to bank robbery, murder, loot and kidnapping in Supaul, Purnea, Madhepura and Saharsa.
