Patna, May 4: State BJP today held a meeting with its district heads, observers and state office bearers in the party’s attempt to resume the campaign against corruption, inflation and black money issues.

The meeting was organised to decide on a national campaign after the ongoing elections in five states are over. The primary objective would be to expose the failure of the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre.

Bihar BJP president C.P. Thakur said: “Plays would be enacted at street corners to highlight the failure of the UPA government in tackling corruption and black money issues. A series of mass awareness campaigns will be launched.”

Corruption has taken this country behind, especially the black money, which the central government has failed to bring back to our country. Dharna and protest marches will be organised at district and block levels across the state.”

He said: “BJP is not convinced with the efforts of the Centre to bring back billions of dollars of the ill-gotten wealth of the country stashed in foreign banks. The UPA government must enact a legislation to ensure that the national wealth returns to India.”

BJP state general secretary Mangal Pandey said: “The whole country is seething in anger at the corruption under this government. BJP will hold rallies in rural areas across the country to increase awareness among people about the various scams. In the urban areas, the district-level marathons and street plays will be organised to expose the corruption-friendly attitude of the Congress. You talk about 2G scam, Commonwealth Games scam, Adarsh society scam — everywhere it is the Congress. The UPA government has also failed to curb inflation with its bad economy policies.”

Hundreds of district heads, district observers and state office bearers attended the one-day meeting at the NDA office in the state capital.

Vasudev Pandey, the district head from Kaimur, said: “The root of corruption need to be hit hard. It is prevalent at every level and the magnitude of the corruption is large. So it has become important to eliminate it from the root. Only then can there be an overall growth across the state.”
