Patna: A Myanmar national was arrested by the police in Kishanganj district close to the international border with Bangladesh on Saturday allegedly for travelling in India without having a valid passport.

The cops seized a voter card issued by the Election Commission of India, Aadhaar card and the Permanent Account Number (PAN) from the possession of the foreigner identified as Abdul Rehman. During verification, the documents turned out to be fake.

Kishanganj SP Rajiv Mishra said a team from Kochadhaman police station reached Janata Chowk when the Myanmar national was asking for financial help from residents as he had no money to reach his destination.

The Kochadhaman police brought 40-year-old Rehman to the police station for interrogation where he revealed that he was heading for Myanmar to meet his family members after the death of his father. He was not allowed to enter Myanmar as he didn't possess valid documents.

Kishanganj SP Mishra said Rehman was a permanent resident of Myanmar but he was staying in India since 2011.
