Motihari, March 11: Historical sites in East Champaran will be decked up for the three-day Bihar Divas celebration, scheduled to start on March 22.

Some of the sites which would be lit up are the Buddhist stupa at Kesariya and places related to Mahatma Gandhi.

Briefing reporters about the plans of the administration to celebrate the state’s centenary, district magistrate (DM) Abhijit Sinha today said: “Places of historical interest in the district will be decorated for the Bihar Divas celebrations. The DM added: “A seminar would also be organised on the first day, in which a number of intellectuals, political workers and social activists would take part. The meet would focus on the different facets of development in the state. Hundred lamps would be lit at the historical sites on the first day.”

The second day would also be equally high on the entertainment quotient.

“A cultural function would be organised at Rajendra Nagar Bhavan in Motihari. An exhibition on the development in the district would be also be held,” said Sinha.

To end the celebrations on a high, an inter-school sports tournament would be held on the final day at Gandhi Maidan in Motihari.
