Patna: The monsoon covered all of Bihar on Thursday, three days after arriving in the state. The rain bearing winds had hit Bihar on June 25, almost a fortnight behind schedule.
"As the entire state has now been covered by monsoon, several areas are expected to witness light to moderate rainfall till Friday," said an official at the Patna Met office.
Rainfall between15mm and 64mm is said to be light to moderate.
The day temperature is likely to remain in the range of 35°C to 37°C till Friday, owing to cloudy conditions likely to prevail in the state.
Reports reaching from the districts suggested that several places received rainfall in the past 24 hours.
Katoria in Banka district and Buxar received 50 mm of rain while Tekari in Gaya, and Palmerganj and Daudnagar in Aurangabad district each received 40 mm rainfall.
Rain was also reported from Rohtas, Kaimur and Arwal.
Patna too witnessed a little bit of rainfall (1.2 mm) in the past 24 hours.
The delayed arrival of the monsoon has led to 32 per cent rainfall deficiency in the state from June 1 to 27.
The state received just 91.7 mm of rain during this period against the normal of 135.8 mm.
Asked about the likely weather condition that would prevail in the state in the coming few days, the Met official said: "At present the trough line is passing south of Bihar hence possibility of heavy downpour is not there till Friday."
He said that once the trough line would start shifting northwards the intensity of rain would increase and distribution pattern would change accordingly.
The monsoon trough line is a line extending from west to east and areas falling south of it generally receive good rainfall whereas around the line also witness weather related activities.
