Patna, Aug. 18: A woman today lodged an FIR at the Masauri police station, accusing an X-ray technician of molesting her at a hospital today.
The 25-year-old victim, a resident of the Masauri area in the state capital, alleged that Rajiv Kumar had molested her while she was undergoing an X-ray on the premises of the Masauri sub-divisional hospital.
Police said the incident occurred around 11am and Rajiv was on the run. Though the police said a search was on to arrest him, they claimed that the accused was not a hospital employee but had been outsourced by the hospital administration as an X-Ray technician.
The incident comes a day after the National Commission for Women slammed the state government calling it a “jungle raj” as far as atrocities against women were concerned.
“The woman had gone for treatment at the hospital and she was advised by the doctor for an X-ray. The hospital has outsourced the X-ray department to some private firm. The accused is not an employee of the hospital. The woman said the person tried to grope her and when she resisted, he misbehaved with her. She then raised an alarm following which the accused somehow escaped,” an officer at Masauri police station told The Telegraph.
“Some of the family members of the victim then created a ruckus at the hospital before the police were called in. An FIR has been lodged,” he added.
On the other hand, residents of the Alamganj area found the body of an unidentified middle-aged woman from a pond in the area this afternoon.
“The body has been sent for a post-mortem. We can’t divulge any details of the incident right now. We do not rule out the chance of the woman gettin g drowned in the pond. We can ascertain the reason leading to her death only after we receive the autopsy report. The body remains unidentified as of now,” an officer at the Alamganj police station told The Telegraph.
Yesterday, Charu Wali Khanna, a member of the National Women Commission, had visited the state capital to probe into the gangrape of a Class XI student at a city-based apartment in the Rajvanshi Nagar area and slammed the government calling it a “jungle raj” given the alarming number of cases of atrocities against women in the state.
Khanna said the commission felt there was an emergency-like situation in Bihar.
A team of former youth Congress leaders has demanded the state government to issue a white paper on the rise in the number of cases of atrocities on women in the past few years.
On the other hand, Rohtas police today arrested one Munna Kumar at Aliganj village under Bikraganj sub-division of the district in connection with a case related to eve teasing with some minor girls, who had called on Khanna in Patna, on Friday. Bikramganj sub-divisional police officer Krishna Kumar Singh said raids were on to arrest other accused.
