Former Bihar chief minister and JD(U) leader Jagannath Mishra on Tuesday wrote a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee demanding a new law to treat the cases of assault against women.
The letter also demanded that the law should be similar to ones dealing with terrorism. Expressing deep anguish over the gang rape and assault of a 23-year-old para medical student in Delhi by six men, one of whom was from Aurangabad district in Bihar, Mishra demanded separate courts to deals with such cases. The trial period of such cases should not be more than six months.
